This nursing course will provide an enriching cross-cultural experience in which you will be applying your nursing knowledge and assessment skills in a supervised environment. You will have a unique opportunity to experience the culture of Guatemala while providing health education and performing basic nursing assessments in a community clinic setting. Students will examine the culture and health care delivery system of Guatemala through attendance and participation in small community presentations, Guatemalan dinners, and travel to local attractions. Students will be challenged to transform learning from one culture to a broader perspective when providing care in a multicultural society.
