Program Description

College nursing students will have a unique opportunity to experience the culture of Zambia while providing health education and performing basic nursing assessments in a community clinic setting.

Students will examine the culture and health care delivery system of Zambia through attendance and participation in small community presentations, dinners and travel to local attractions. Students will be challenged to transform learning from one culture to a broader perspective when providing care in a multicultural society.

PLANNED TRAVEL HIGHLIGHTS:
• Service learning project/s with Tiny People Matter
• Dinner sunset cruise on Zambezi River
• Safari Game Drive in Botswana
• Tour of Victoria Falls
• Shopping at local markets

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:
Scholarships up to $1,000 are available through HACC Foundation. Applying for scholarships does not guarantee receipt of funds. If you qualify, financial aid can be applied to the program fee. Contact the Financial Aid office on your campus.

Classes will meet in SM203 (Harrisburg campus) May 19, 2018 8a-12 noon, June 16, 2018 10a-12 noon and July 28, 2018 9a-11a.
Travel dates are June 30-July 13, 2018

THIS COURSE WILL CLOSE TO APPLICATIONS ON FEBRUARY 2, 2018. This course can close without notice once capacity is reached.
