Program Description

Tropical Ecology in the Bahamas will explore a remote tropical island while learning the science of modern ecology.

Students will travel to San Salvador, home to roughly 1,000 people, yet approximately as large as the main tourist island of Nassau. Due to the light population, the island boasts healthy and extensive coral reefs, tropical flora and fauna, seagrass beds, and mangrove forests.

Students will spend seven days at The Gerace Research Centre, which specializes in hosting students studying island ecology. After you conduct your own research project, students will experience the main island of Nassau, visit Paradise Island and explore the marine life at the Atlantis Aquarium.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:
Scholarships up to $1,000 are available through HACC Foundation. Applying for scholarships does not guarantee receipt of funds. If you qualify, financial aid can be applied to the program fee. Contact the Financial Aid office on your campus.
