Rights and Responsibilities - Student

  • Students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 to be considered for participation in a HACC travel course and, if approved, continue with participation in the travel course.
  • Students can expect to receive replies from the Center for Global Education (CGE) and program faculty leader/s to requested information within 2 business days of request
  • Students can expect notification of approval/disapproval for program participation within 7 business days of submission of a completed study abroad application and receipt of all letters of recommendation
  • Students MUST provide required paperwork to the CGE by specified deadlines
  • Students are responsible for adhering to the HACC Code of Conduct while traveling with the group
  • If a violation of the Code of Conduct results in expulsion from the program before or during travel dates, it is the responsibility of the student to pay any additional expenses incurred
  • Students are responsible for any and all charges for checked bags, overweight bags or over-sized bags and any other fees the airlines/providers might assess. If purchase of an extra seat is required to accommodate persons of size, an additional charge will be incurred (not included in the program fee) and is the financial responsibility of the student.
  • Students are responsible for obtaining a valid U.S. passport and, if applicable, entry/transit/exit visa/s and must submit copies of each to the CGE by posted deadlines
  • Students holding non-U.S. passports are required to obtain entry/transit/exit visa/s for all travel when applicable
  • Students are responsible for ensuring passports are valid for travel per destination country's rules and regulations
  • Students are responsible for checking HACC HawkMail on a daily basis for any and all information sent by the CGE and faculty leader/s. Failure to check email is not a valid excuse for missing program deadlines.
  • Travel insurance will be provided to enrolled students (international travel only) for the duration of the scheduled travel dates
  • Students can expect travel insurance ID cards and claim submission information from the CGE prior to travel dates (international travel only)
  • Students are responsible for submitting any/all claims to the travel insurance provider for any incidents that take place before, during or after travel
  • Students can expect to receive program-specific information from the CGE and faculty leader/s in a timely manner
  •  Dates of travel are subject to change due to air transportation/on-site accommodation availability and cost.
  • All participants are required to travel with the group during scheduled dates on group flights, unless otherwise agreed upon by the program faculty leader and HACC Center for Global Education.  Any travel not with the group is the responsibility of the student to arrange, and any additional costs incurred and resulting from the revised itinerary are to be paid in full by the student.
  • Students will be notified of all pre-travel orientation sessions and post-travel meetings in a timely manner
  • Students are required to attend pre-travel orientation sessions and post-travel meetings, no exceptions
