Rights
and Responsibilities - Student
- Students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 to be considered for participation in a HACC travel course and, if approved, continue with participation in the travel course.
- Students
can expect to receive replies from the Center for Global Education (CGE)
and program faculty leader/s to requested information within 2 business
days of request
- Students
can expect notification of approval/disapproval for program participation
within 7 business days of submission of a completed study abroad
application and receipt of all letters of recommendation
- Students
MUST provide required paperwork to the CGE by specified deadlines
- Students
are responsible for adhering to the HACC Code of Conduct while traveling
with the group
- If
a violation of the Code of Conduct results in expulsion from the program
before or during travel dates, it is the responsibility of the student to pay
any additional expenses incurred
- Students
are responsible for any and all charges for checked bags, overweight bags
or over-sized bags and any other fees the airlines/providers might assess. If purchase of an extra seat is required to accommodate persons of size, an additional charge will be incurred (not included in the program fee) and is the financial responsibility of the student.
- Students
are responsible for obtaining a valid U.S. passport and, if applicable, entry/transit/exit visa/s and must submit copies of each to the CGE
by posted deadlines
- Students holding non-U.S. passports are required to obtain entry/transit/exit visa/s for all travel when applicable
- Students are responsible for ensuring passports are valid for travel per destination country's rules and regulations
- Students are responsible for checking HACC HawkMail on a daily basis for any and all information sent by the CGE and faculty leader/s. Failure to check email is not a valid excuse for missing program deadlines.
- Travel
insurance will be provided to enrolled students (international travel
only) for the duration of the scheduled travel dates
- Students
can expect travel insurance ID cards and claim submission information from
the CGE prior to travel dates (international travel only)
- Students
are responsible for submitting any/all claims to the travel insurance
provider for any incidents that take place before, during or after travel
- Students
can expect to receive program-specific information from the CGE and
faculty leader/s in a timely manner
Dates of travel are subject to change due to air transportation/on-site accommodation availability and cost. All
participants are required to travel with the group during scheduled dates on
group flights, unless otherwise agreed upon by the program faculty leader and
HACC Center for Global Education. Any
travel not with the group is the responsibility of the student to arrange, and
any additional costs incurred and resulting from the revised itinerary are
to be paid in full by the student. Students
will be notified of all pre-travel orientation sessions and post-travel
meetings in a timely manner Students
